Gerry gets evicted from the Big Brother house, even Davina is annoyed with him

So, I have some beef with Gerry, and I'll tell you for why.
I liked Gerry. He was one of my favourites. Sure, he could be a pain in the proverbial at times, but he was mostly articulate, thoughtful and could be reasonably interesting to watch. Until Friday night, of course, when he turned into a grovelling, pleading, brown nose. And nobody likes a brown nose, do they?
With the "Guru" housemates faced with the task of having to evict either Gerry or Carole live on air, tension should have been high. Except it wasn't, was it? Because as soon as Davina told the housemates what was about to happen, Gerry started to grovel. "Pick me!" he begged. "Put me out! Save Carole! I love Carole!" It was horrible to watch. So intent was Gerry on trying to convince us all that he is a nice person, who puts others before himself every time, that he actually just succeeded in making himself look like a bit of an ass.
Has EVERYONE in the Big Brother house forgotten that they're in a game show, I wonder? It's certainly starting to look that way. For these housemates, the quickest way to insult them is to suggest that they are "playing a game". No one wants to be seen to be "playing a game" - which is ironic seeing as they're... well, playing a game. It's also deeply uncool to admit to wanting to win the game: no one wants to win. If asked, they'll all protest vehemently that they want someone else to win the game - would rather be evicted, in fact, than be made to look like they might actually have been playing to win. It's a very strange set of affairs for a game show, and what's even stranger is the fact that the person Gerry most wants to win? Is Carole.
Carole. Our Lady of the Batshit Crazy. The self-proclaimed "mother" of the house, who will regularly refuse to speak to her "children" for totally spurious reasons - they ate a bowl of bran flakes, perhaps, or tried to challenge her authority in the kitchen.
Why does Gerry want Carole to win? Why, in fact, do most of the housemates seem to think that Carole is the worthiest winner? Because Carole is poor. She needs the money. "It's not a charity" pointed out Davina during Gerry's exit interview, and Davina is right. Big Brother isn't about selecting the poorest person available and making them rich. It is a GAME SHOW. And as far as I can see, no one is really playing the game. In fact, it's got so bad that it's even annoying Davina.
"I was a bit annoyed with Gerry on Friday," she admits on the channel 4 website, "because he took the decision away from the twins and I was looking forward to them having that dilemma."
Yes. He did. And if it carries on this way, why, the housemates may as well all put their heads together, decide who they want to give the money to, and then leave. At least no one could convince them of "playing a game" that way, could they?

And there is not even the faintest possibility that Gerry, coming from a well off family, actually thought, I don't need the money, and Carole really does.
Your cycnicism disappointments me. And it is just one example of how materialistic people in this country have become. Pity.
